Template Generator

The AI Template Generator creates complete task lists from project descriptions or scope documents. Instead of building a schedule from scratch, you describe what you are building and the AI produces a structured list of phases and tasks that you review, edit, and apply to your project.

Two Ways to Generate

Describe Your Project 1 e.g., "3-story custom home with pool" AI Generates Tasks 2 phases, durations, dependencies Review & Save 3 edit before saving to library You always review before saving

You can feed the Template Generator with either a written description or an uploaded scope document.

Option 1: The Construction Spec Form

The spec form gives the AI the context it needs to generate an accurate task list. It includes 13 fields that describe your project in detail.

Field What to Enter
Project Type New construction, renovation, addition, etc.
Structure Type Single-family, multi-family, commercial, mixed-use
Square Footage Approximate total square footage of the project
Stories Number of floors
Foundation Type Slab, crawl space, full basement, pier and beam
Framing Wood frame, steel frame, concrete block, ICF
Roofing Shingle, tile, metal, flat/TPO
HVAC Central, mini-split, radiant, geothermal
Plumbing Fixtures Number of bathrooms, kitchen, laundry, outdoor
Electrical Panel size, solar, EV charger, smart home wiring
Exterior Finish Siding type, brick, stucco, stone
Interior Finish Level Standard, mid-range, high-end, luxury
Special Features Pool, elevator, wine cellar, outdoor kitchen, etc.

You do not need to fill every field. The more detail you provide, the more tailored the generated task list will be. Leave a field blank if it does not apply.

Option 2: Document Upload

If you already have a scope of work or project specifications as a PDF, you can upload it directly. The AI reads the document, extracts the relevant construction details, and generates a task list based on the actual scope.

Click "Upload Scope Document." In the Template Generator panel, select the upload option and choose a PDF file from your computer.
Wait for processing. The AI reads the document and extracts construction specifications. This typically takes 10-30 seconds depending on document length.
Review the extracted details. Before generating the task list, the AI shows you what it understood from the document. Verify that the key details match your expectations.
Tip: The document upload works best with structured scope-of-work documents that list specific construction activities. General architectural drawings or permit applications may not contain enough detail for a good task list.

Land Project Descriptions

For land purchase or land development projects, the spec form is replaced with a free-text description field. Describe the land deal in your own words: the type of property, due diligence items, zoning considerations, survey requirements, title work, and closing tasks. The AI parses your description and generates an appropriate task list for the acquisition process.

Reviewing the AI Output

After you submit the spec form or upload a document, the AI generates a task list organized by construction phase. The output typically includes:

The generated list appears in a preview panel where you can review every item before anything touches your project.

Remember: The AI drafts, the builder decides. The generated task list is a starting point, not a finished schedule. Every project has unique site conditions, local code requirements, and crew availability that only you know. Always review and adjust the output before applying it.

Editing Before Applying

The preview panel lets you make changes before the tasks are added to your project.

Replace vs. Append

When you are ready to apply the generated tasks, you have two options.

Caution: Replace is destructive. It permanently removes your existing tasks. If you have tasks with logged hours, costs, or status updates, use Append instead and remove the old tasks manually after verifying the new list.

Tips for Best Results

After applying: Once you have applied the generated tasks, use the Dependency Wizard to link tasks together and establish your critical path. The Template Generator creates the task list; the Dependency Wizard creates the schedule logic.
