Settings: Complete Guide
The Settings screen is your control panel for everything outside of day-to-day project work. You can reach it from the Dashboard menu (gear icon) or by pressing the Settings link in the navigation.
Settings is organized into seven tabs. This guide walks through each one so you know exactly what every option does.
Billing Tab
The Billing tab shows your current subscription and usage at a glance.
- Current Plan — displays your tier (Free, Pro, or Enterprise) and billing status (active, trialing, or canceled).
- Usage Meters — visual bars showing how much of your plan limits you have used: projects, manager seats, storage, and AI calls.
- Upgrade Options — if you are on Free or Pro, you will see cards for the next tier with pricing, a monthly/annual toggle, and an upgrade button.
- Manage Billing — opens the Stripe Customer Portal where you can update your payment method, view invoices, change plans, or cancel.
For a detailed comparison of what each tier includes, see Subscription Tiers. For step-by-step upgrade instructions, see Billing & Upgrades.
Company Tab
The Company tab stores your business information. This data appears on change orders, exported reports, and printed documents.
- Business Name — your company or DBA name.
- Address — street address, city, state, and ZIP code.
- Phone — primary business phone number.
- Email — company contact email (separate from your login email).
- Website — your company website URL.
- License Number — your contractor license or builder registration number. Appears on change orders.
- Logo Upload — upload your company logo. Maximum file size is 2 MB. Accepted formats are JPG, PNG, and SVG. Your logo appears in the header of change orders and exported reports.
Features Tab
The Features tab controls which optional features are visible in the app. Each feature has a toggle switch. Turn off features you do not use to simplify your interface.
Baulit includes 11 feature toggles:
- Budget Tracking — budget tab, cost line items, and budget reports.
- Change Orders — change order tab and related workflows.
- Daily Logs — daily log tab with weather, crew, and activity tracking.
- Files & Attachments — file upload tab and task-level attachments.
- Contacts — contact directory accessible from the Dashboard menu.
- Calendar View — calendar tab inside the Project View.
- Punch List — punch list management within projects.
- Reports — portfolio, budget, overdue, and vendor insurance reports.
- Gantt Chart — Gantt tab with CPM scheduling and dependency management.
- AI Tools — all seven AI features (requires an API key and a paid tier).
- Batch Operations — multi-select actions on the task list.
Turning off a feature does not delete any data. It only hides the related UI elements. Turn the feature back on and everything reappears exactly as you left it.
Templates Tab
The Templates tab manages your saved project templates. Templates are pre-built task lists that you can apply when creating a new project.
- View Templates — see all your saved templates listed by name with task count and last modified date.
- Edit — open a template to add, remove, or reorder tasks, change durations, and update predecessor relationships.
- Duplicate — create a copy of an existing template as a starting point for a variation.
- Delete — remove a template you no longer need. This uses a two-step confirmation to prevent accidents.
- Set Default — mark one template as the default. It will be pre-selected when you create a new project.
- Create New — build a template from scratch, or use the AI Template Generator to create one from a project description.
Data Tab
The Data tab handles import, export, and app information.
- Export Backup — download a complete JSON file containing all your projects, tasks, contacts, change orders, daily logs, and settings. Use this for offline backup or migration.
- Import / Restore — upload a previously exported JSON backup to restore your data. This overwrites current data, so use it carefully.
- Version Info — displays the current Baulit version number and build date.
- About — links to documentation, release notes, and support contact information.
Account Tab
The Account tab manages your personal profile and AI integration.
Profile Section
- First Name / Last Name — your display name shown to team members.
- Phone — your personal phone number (optional).
- Email — change your login email address. Baulit sends a confirmation link to both your old and new email addresses. You must confirm from both inboxes before the change takes effect.
AI Integration Section
- API Key — paste your Anthropic API key here to enable AI features. The key is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. See BYOK Setup for step-by-step instructions.
- Save & Test — validates your key against the Anthropic API and shows a connection status indicator.
- Remove Key — deletes your stored API key and disables AI features.
Legal Tab
The Legal tab provides links to all of Baulit's legal documents. These are hosted by Termly and open in a new browser tab.
- Terms of Service — the agreement governing your use of Baulit.
- Privacy Policy — how Baulit collects, uses, and protects your data.
- Cookie Policy — details on cookies and tracking technologies.
- Acceptable Use Policy — rules for acceptable behavior on the platform.
- Disclaimer — limitations of liability and warranty information.
- Cookie Preferences — a button that opens the cookie consent manager so you can update your preferences at any time.
