Role Guides
Baulit adapts to your role on the project. Admins and managers get full control over every feature. Contractors see a focused portal for their assigned work. Stakeholders get a read-only view of project progress. These guides walk each role through their experience so everyone on your team knows exactly how to use the app.
The Four Roles
Every team member in Baulit is assigned one of four roles when they are invited to a project. The role determines what they can see, what they can change, and which features are available to them.
| Role | Access Level | Seat Type | Typical Users |
|---|---|---|---|
| Admin | Full access to all features, settings, billing, and team management | Paid seat | Company owner, general contractor |
| Manager | Full access to all project features, reports, and AI tools | Paid seat | Project manager, superintendent, office manager |
| Contractor | Assigned tasks only: view, update status, upload photos | Free (unlimited) | Subcontractors, trade partners, crew leads |
| Stakeholder | Read-only: view progress, photos, and timelines | Free (unlimited) | Homeowners, investors, lenders, architects |
Seat Model and Billing
Baulit uses a simple seat model designed for how construction teams actually work. Only the people who manage the project need paid seats. Everyone else is free.
- Admin and Manager seats are paid. These are the people running your projects: the GC, the project managers, and the office staff. Each paid seat counts toward your subscription tier's seat limit.
- Contractor and Stakeholder seats are free and unlimited. Invite as many subs, trade partners, homeowners, and investors as you need. They never count against your seat limit and never add to your bill.
This model means you can invite every subcontractor on every project without worrying about per-seat costs. The more people using Baulit on your projects, the better your communication and the fewer phone calls about status updates.
Choosing the Right Role
When inviting a team member, pick the role that matches their actual job on the project:
- If they need to create projects, manage budgets, run reports, or access settings, they need Admin or Manager.
- If they are a subcontractor who needs to see their assigned work and mark it complete, they need Contractor.
- If they just need to see how the project is going without changing anything, they need Stakeholder.
Roles can be changed at any time from the Team tab in your project. Promoting a Contractor to Manager or changing a Manager to Stakeholder takes effect immediately.
